  • 1 can kidney beans (15 oz), drained
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent and fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in garlic and bell pepper; cook until softened.
  4. Mix in tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Cover partially and simmer on low heat for at least 30 minutes for flavors to meld.
