Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (heated to 110°F)
  • 1/3 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In another bowl, warm the milk and mix in melted butter. Combine both mixtures until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about five minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about one hour).
  4. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle (1/2 inch thick). Spread melted butter over the dough.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough before rolling tightly into a log.
  6. Slice into twelve equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Allow to rise again for about thirty minutes while preheating your oven to 350°F.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. For icing, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk or cream to reach desired consistency before drizzling over warm rolls.
