  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add enough butter to coat the bottom.
  2. Generously butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice butter-side down in the skillet, layer with shredded cheddar cheese, sprinkle garlic powder, and top with the second slice (butter-side up).
  4. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown; carefully flip the sandwich.
  5. Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs on top before flipping again to grill until both sides are crispy and cheese is melted (about another 3-4 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice diagonally and serve warm.
